My WRT54GS Died several years ago. I replaced it with a WRT54GL and that is still running fine with Tomato. Other then the wireless being outdated, its been a great router. I might just have to get this new one.

Running three WRT54GS units in my house with Tomato firmware. Rock solid.

"Outdated" wifi is somewhat relative. The newer wifi bands actually have shorter range than the G band does. I prefer G for better coverage.

G is more than adequate for Internet speeds (it's faster than most Internet connections) and printing. The only thing the faster wifi bands are good for is file transfers.

Yeah, I know that. That is why I haven't bothered to "update" mine yet. I may just stick with it until this new one comes down in price. I have no reason to update mine.

There are several newer class wifi routers available that support DD-WRT. NewEgg lists them specifically as "DD-WRT Support". The ones from Asus are highly recommended on the DD-WRT forums:

I'd wait on good reviews before committing to the new "Linksys" model. I like the retro looks, but Belkin (Linksys' new parent company) has a reputation for making really crappy routers. Hopefully they bought Linksys to learn how to make routers RIGHT and not to bring the Belkin quality standards to Linksys. We'll see.

I'm running a wireless N router, but all of my connections are G. I agree, for internet, there's no reason to upgrade.

Runs solid, and the DD-WRT has a lot of nice options.

Looks like a total flop. Nice hardware, but terrible firmware, and no it's not DD-WRT compatible yet...
