Sorry but I'm pissed!

I had Rosewill 300m wireless N router RNX-N300RT just plain die.
It worked in the mornin and dead in the afternoon. Lights on but nobody home..
Got an exact replacement from Rosewill thu newegg (bless them) :)
But Dang nabbit if this one is acting the same! I'm expecting a call from them shorty but I have a feeling there going to blame my end and I'm beginning to think maybe it is.
If I connect directly from the cable modem to my comp its all good.
I put the router in the picture and no ports work.
I have tryed a different cat5 from the modem to the router but same thing after setting it back to factory default, reseting everything over and over.
I can communcate with the router just fine. It finds everthing and says good to go.
Think I have lemon? The first one lasted 7 months and very easy to set up
as should this one.
Still waiting for their call because their busy. I waited 1/2 hour to "get in line" still waiting for my callback..
I'll let you know how this goes! :)
In the meantime. I'll shop for different router. I'm hoping its on my end and an easy fix though.

Koo Koo, silly question, and excuse me if this sounds stupid but some people don't know.

Did you power cycle the modem after connecting it to the new router? Cable modems lock themselves to the MAC address of the first device they are connected to. When you connect it to another device you need to power the modem off for 10 seconds and back on which will lock it to the MAC address of the new device.

Some ISPs (it's rare nowadays) have your account locked to a specific MAC address (your computer). So you have to clone the MAC address of your computer to the router which solves the problem. In the router configuration web menu there will be a setting to change the MAC address of the router. Usually there's a button there that allows you to clone the address from the computer you are logging into the router control panel from.

I've only bought one Rosewill router and that was for a client, and it was rock solid. It's an N router that had impeccable reviews on Newegg.

Hope this helps.

Nah, Rosewill makes their own products. They can sometimes be hit or miss, but normally are pretty reliable for their price tag. I assume you did the factory reset and all that, not much more you can do beyond that one.

I have one router that baffles me completely. For whatever reason, DHCP doesn't work. Factory resets don't fix it, but if I assign the IPs statically, no other issues.

I.m heading to PCA just to see what they think with a copy paste.. If your wondering what PCA is.. Its a place we go when then last hair on your head has been pulled out!! :)
