Not sure if this was talked about before, but I thought I would ask everyone here what their own thoughts are on this service/program. Have you used it? If so, do you like it? Any security concerns which you may know of?

I was determining whether I was going to use PcAnywhere to help out a buddy with his computer and I found LogMeIn and am pretty much fully satisfied with what it can do. I have been fooling around with it and can say I am pretty much going to stick with it unless I can be shown otherwise.

I know FP has used it with success. Can't comment on it myself personally.

I use it quite a lot. Works just as good as GoToMyPC but unlike that product Logmein offers a free version. Free version doesn't support remote printing or file transfers but most people don't need that anyway. There is no practical limit to the number of PCs you can have on a free account that I've discovered.

I have it installed on many of my client's PCs so I remotely service their computers - I insist on it being installed on any servers. I just create a free account for them under their own email so that it's their own account.

My home PCs all have it installed so I can work on them when I'm on the road, and I use LogMeIn to work on my workstation from my laptop when I'm traveling. Logmein even supports dual monitors (which I have on my workstation) - you can toggle between displays on the remote even if it only has one monitor.

I wouldn't even think about using PCAnywhere. That's a dinosaur of a program. Very sluggish and it requires port forwarding. I'd use Window's Remote Desktop before using that bloatware, but Logmein is much better.

No security concerns. It's a secure SSL connection. I actually use it as a psuedo VPN when I'm at a public hotspot to avoid man-in-the-middle attacks which are becoming very common. I just Logmein into my home workstation and then do all my browsing or whatever through that and no worries about anyone trying to intercept it at the hotspot.

Very easy to use and works in either IE or Firefox. When you add a computer DO NOT sign up for the 30 day trial of the pro version as they will ask you for a credit card and then ding you after 30 days. Just sign up for the free version which requires no credit card. They give you the pro features for 30 days then they turn them off and start nagging you to upgrade to Pro after that but you never have to.

Yeah I am really liking it myself. I do wish though, that file transfer was included with the free version as I would have purpose for that. Ohh well though I love what I get and after all it IS free!

Yeah PCAnywhere is just one major hassle.

You can get around the lack of file transfer by either using email or a file storage service like Microsoft's SkyDrive or, in my case, an FTP server.

Yeah I thought of just floating an FTP server and before I leave the house run it and then if needed I would have access to the files I threw up there....
