DSL with Century link, what to look for?

Anyone know anything about DSL etc... with Century link, formerly Centurytel?
I just found out a new sub station is going in SOON close to me!
Around first of year I should be able to get DSL and whatever else.
The Bozo's after 3 service complaints still have not been able to find the problem with my phone lines here. The last person, nice person, tried to tell me again that noise on my line was normal here in the woods, IT IS NOT, in 10 or more years with these lines I know the noise should not be there! Also the lines get horrible when it rains!
One good thing though was he asked if I was going to be interested in DSL when the new substation goes live soon.
Well I dought the people around here can keep it working since they can't even fix a simple 2 phone lines. I found the problem myself and just called in a 4th service call for the same line problems tonight!
Just lucky the service guy mentioned I had to be within about 5 miles of the station to get DSL and told me where the station is going in at.
I drove the back road to see how far I am. When I did I found the pedestal on the back road where the lines on my property tie into the main line has been ran over and smashed, ripped out of the ground, laying in 4 or more pieces, exposed wires, ground wire cut in 2 and so forth! I am the last one on the line here and they never even checked the pedestal after all my complaint of problems!
3 recent service calls and they could not find that! These are the people that will keep my DSL running if I sign up????? LOL
Anyway, when this new substation goes live I want better than dialup! Is DSL the best I should expect? I am about 3 miles by the most direct road route and about 4 miles they way they have my lines ran now.
Is Centurylink DSL normally decent? Any junk like download limits or other things I should look out for? What is normal DSL speeds I should expect?
I will look into this with Centurylink, but other than DSL not sure if anything else decent I should look for?
