So yeah I've been looking around and tried a bunch of stuff but just can't seem to get this to work. So i guess I need a more one-on-one assistance.

I want to be able to share my computer's wireless connection in my room with my xbox 360, and I've tried bridging the ethernet and wireless connections together as many have said around the internets, but whenever I do that my internet connection on my computer disappears and i can't connect my 360 either.

Any ideas? I'm running XP btw.

How is your computer connected to the internet? Hard wire or wireless? How do you want to connect the Xbox to the internet - hard wire or wireless?

You're not clear but you imply that you have a wireless connection on your PC. If so, and you also have a hardwired NIC on your PC you're not using that you could share your internet connection through using Internet Connection Sharing (ICS). I'm no expert on XBoxes but I thought they all had wireless. Why can't you connect directly to the wireless network with it?

yeah my computer is wirelessly connected, and i'm trying to hardwire my 360 to it to share the wireless connection. i'll check the link and read up some more, but im feeling pessimistic about it since i've already been tinkering around with the ICS.

and yeah, 360s don't have wireless, you have to buy this 80 dollar adapter, which is like a big FU to 360 owners

I haven't done it in a while but if you're messing with a Bridge you're in the wrong area. You basically go to networking, right click on the wireless connection icon, select properties, select the Advanced tab and place a checkmark next to "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's internet connection" and select the hardwired NIC as the connection.

yeah after some more tinkering i got it to go all the way to xbox live, but the problem was zonealarm messing things up. so now it seems i have to shut it down everytime i want to get on live. i've added a bunch of exceptions but i can't seem to find exactly what it is that zonealarm is blocking.

Zonealarm is rubbish. Use win firewall with a good AV app. Being on a router youve already got a hardware firewall so you could even turn off the windows one if you like. Im willing ot bet the router just needed hard cycled after xbox was jacked in. Its amazing how much just a power cycle on a router can make connection a breeze.

Yeah. Zonealarm is crap nowadays, nor do you need a 3rd party firewall. If you're behind a router you really don't need any firewall. The Windows Firewall is more than adequate.
