ya know i been searching for the same thing for years now... unfortunately no such animal exists that i have seen.
most file hosting places either do not allow u to link directly without visiting a portal or if they do allow direct linking somehow tend to limit what u can link to in terms of size and or file type or are startups that disappear within a few months

its awful that no one out their provides something as simple as free web space when the web was crawling with it just a few years ago

Most ISPs provide you with a personal web server account along with your broadband connection.

Roadrunner just quit doing this..not sure why. I lost my "free" space. Havnt had RR in over a year and I could upload 30mb max (supposed to be 10mb).

depending on what you're going to use it for, MSN Live Spaces or whatever it's called let's you upload a few GB or so, i think...then you can share it out.
