My own domain

Ok, call me greedy but I want my own domain. I've installed server 03 on my home computer so been playing around with domain controllers ect and now I wanna get my own domain on the internet. Does anyone here know a link to a "clean" tutorial on how to achieve this? Ive posted on anandtech but problem is Im still learning this so its kinda hit and miss there. Most regulars assume that if your asking this question then your already versed in 2003/domain/dns servers/ect......
So far I've:
Installed server 2003
Created roles on server to include: pop3, dns server, print server, and active directory
Somehow managed to get local machines to resolve domain in nslookup
(set servers IP as dns server on other machines)
Joined the domain with my mac (yeah I know WTF am I thinking).
Next step in my endeavor is to have my domain available over the internet. I have heard about hardening the server and software firewalls to protect it but what I have yet to figure out is how to get it to resolve over the internet. Basically "nslookup derrick.com" = nil. Im not sure where to go from here. Can ya point a ninja in tha right direction? Last thing I was diggin in was getting the dns server to communicate with the router "virtual" dns called "home". Im guessing that this is the domain/dns that the router set looking at the workgroup that the local machines are/were on. When I type "home" and then resolve the domain in the dns server control panel it resolves to 192.168.1.254 which of course is my routers local ip. Then it tells me that I have to enter a complete domain name to save. Im thinking this is the problem with getting my domain seen by my ISP. Do I need to set an actual "home.local" domain in the router config? Also to access/join the domain Im assuming that I have to do some port work in the router but Im totally lost as to which ports to forward ect. With all this madness Im on a dynamic IP so would have to do some forwarding using no-ip or some other dynamic dns host.
TIA
