identifying devices on a LAN

Post by wpublic »

how could i get information about network adapters connected to a LAN without having to go to each workstation?

i need to be able to get model #'s, IP and MAC info on a LAN with about 50 computers

my access is limited(user permissions); i can run standalone exe and most command line stuff but i cannot install software. OS is win XP pro

I use LANguard Network Security scanner, but there are many similar utilities out there. LANguard won't show you the NIC model but it will show you IPs, Mac addresses, open user accounts, shares, and a lot of security info including (if setup for it) what critical updates each workstation is missing. VERY useful app for a network admin.
