i have a linksys wireless router
befw11s4

i have connected the WAN port on the router to my cisco switch
i have connected the UPLINK port on the router to my cisco switch

i have turned DHCP off on the routers, i want to use my server as the DHCP server.

my problem is this. i have the router working fine, but after about 5 minutes the router seems to look the connection to my network. and all i have to fix it is to disconnect the nic cable from the uplink port and plug it back in and it works fine for another 5 minutes

what could be causing this ?

i have checked for errors on my cisco switch, and it reports no errors

You can't connect it the way you listed. If you want to use it as an access point then you need to disable DHCP on the router and configure the router to use a free address on your existing LAN (if your server is 192.168.1.1 then make the router 192.168.1.x where x=any free IP).

Connect the router to your network via the uplink port. Leave the WAN port disconnected.
