Howdy, i need some help i just reloaded xp on computer, i have modem directly connected to computer, i use to have setup with router to modem and router to computer. my connection is slow downed more than usual and i have notice activity lightis blinking like crazy, pages loading slow. i ran netstat command on cmd and theres bunch of connections even though no app is using the internet.
All help appreciated.

List the connections.
Are you using a Firewall? You should if you're not using a router (why did you you lose the router?). Make sure you've installed all the current Windows Critical Updates.
Don't share any folders or printers (ideally disable file sharing if it's going to stay connected to the modem direct), disable the Guest account and use a password on all other accounts.
Or just put the router back in.
