thats a hoax... see the * well use that new speed and you get a letter to stop or they will cut you off for using too much bandwith. my friend got one.. he called and asked what the limit was and they wouldent tell him. i told him to keep going and when they cut him off take them to court. if he is using too much bandwith then they should lower his caps... thats what they are there for.

It's "available bandwidth". Comcast and most ISPs have monthly caps (whether official or not official).

You won't run afoul of those caps unless you're a major bandwidth hog. Essentially they don't want you running an FTP server or something else that uses full bandwidth all the time.

They are perfectly entitled to restrict these activities - read your agreement.

Cable is a shared WAN and if several people in a node are abusing their bandwidth privaledges, everyone else suffers. I had that problem a LOT in the early days of cable in Miami before bandwidth was restricted.

Unless you're spending every waking moment of the day downloading pron, it shouldn't be a problem, and you should get a warning first.

Your choice at that point is to change to a different provider or pay for a commercial account.

well if im paying for it and its "available bandwidth" then im gonna use it. I dont keep my DL pegged... but every chance i get i help seed torrents.
