FASTeeeeer WEB PAGE LOADING

Post by Augix »

This tweak will help web pages load faster:
For XP & 2K

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic
es\Tcpip\ServiceProvider

On the right for ALL OS's change these entries: (ALL values are HEXIDECIMAL)

Class = 1
DnsPriority = 1
HostsPriority = 1
LocalPriority = 1
NetbtPriority = 1

Umm.. do you have any information on why these changes would help web pages load faster? Because it looks to me like you are giving the name lookup services all the same priority and I don't understand how that is going to speed things up. Especially the loading of a web page. It might make the first hit to a site load faster, but after that the DNS entry is usually cached and the delay for name lookup shouldn't matter.

Also, 1 is 1 in HEX or DEC. ;)

I agree, I can't see how that can help, and I'd be leary of tampering with the registry without some confirmation this won't do harm.

Where did you find this one Augix?

I remember somewhere There is a hack that will allow IE to make several concurrent connection to a webpage, which on a fast connection will speed loadtimes tremendously , but the legalityis questionable

I did this a while ago to increase the number of simultaneous file downloads. Didn't really notice or care if it improved page downloads - they're plenty fast already on cable.

Never noticed any negative problems with this.
