I moved my systems all around(redoing a br in my house) now my daughters pc w/ 50ft of cat5 won't reach the router..Is there anyway to join 2 cat5's together??I have another 10 footer.Didn't know if there was a splitter I could buy or something like that..I hate to buy a 100 ft cable for what little time I'll be needing this. Also this will give me another pc for my mini herd for folding ;)

TIA

cat 5 isnt really supposed to be spliced, you can do so, but it may cause quality degradation.

If you dont want to buy another cable i suggest you goto home depot and but an insert for a cat5 modular wall jack

Then unhook plug on one end of one cable, wire it to the jack then just plug the other cable into it

they look like this, but you shouldnt need the wall plate, just the modular jack i would imagine

edit/ shouldnt be more then $1 or 2 i think

Thanks Bg :)
I'm undecided..I may just buy another cat5 cable..I don't think the stuff is that expensive now-a-days.

Then again..I'm going to HD today..I'll check it out..Thanks alot!!

You can buy an adapter at radio snack for around 5 bux. It joins 2 cables easily and I haven't seen any speed diff. ;)
