Janus HornetTek WLAN USB adapter mini-review

Post by wvjohn »

This is an awesome little rig. I bought one a couple of years ago at Geeks on sale on the recommendation of a friend for like $30. don't know if you can still find them, but grab one if you can. My friend takes his with his lappy when he travels and says he get's everything within 1/4 mile or so. Powered off the USB connection. Plug and play.

I am setting up a workstation in my garage which is about 180 feet from my house. I hooked up a plain vanilla 10 year old Linksys WRT54G and stuck it on top of my desktop, which is on the far side of the house. 4/5 bars, streams music and plays D3 just fine.

I have lousy hillbilly DSL and the download is close to what I get in the house, about 40% on the upload, but sure beats nuttin" :)

10/10
