I used to get around 180k downloads here with my other laptops, now this new laptop is only doing 80K downloads and I just installed a USb adapter and disabled built in and still same speed!!

I don't seem to transfer files on the home network as fast as I think they should either. Seem opretty danged slow, home downloads speed only get around 60K on Extended DLS but better than Dialup was!

upgrade completed on my end. my modem is now syncing at ~29,500 down and 6500 up.

wugnet...6.46/3.85. i've never had a higher download from there and suspect the path i take or the specific server i happen to hit (if they have geo-located servers) is a poor location for me specifically.

as another test i downloaded XP SP3 from MS and had an average 2.15MB/s (17.2Mbps).

the best part is these are from my laptop on wireless (G). when i tried using the wireless off of the router provided by my ISP i can only get 10Mbps max...using my 6+ year old Linksys gives me over 2x the speed. lol

another update: downloading from my desktop (wired) gives me full speed w/ 3MB/s on nzb type material. that's what makes me happy.
