Actually Hong Kong is NOT behind the Great Firewall of China, and being a major banking center it has excellent pipes leading out to the world. It may belong to China, but they are not subject to filtering. When Google stopped filtering their results all they did was switch to their Hong Kong which then goes through the firewall to mainland China.
Hong Kong citizens are also exempt from many of the laws of the mainland. It was the deal with the devil that China made to get Hong Kong.

I was looking for some confirmation to make sure I wasn't talking out my arse. Here ya go:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_c ... c_of_ChinaMost national laws of the People's Republic of China do not apply to the Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong or Macau. There are no known cases of the PRC authorities censoring critical political or religious content in those areas.

Wow makes me want to move to China LOL
Here I am, suffering with Dialup and crap phone lines they won't fix correct and I pay out about $40 total for THAT!
Just got ADSL this week, crap so far, and 600K I will be paying $50 or so a month.
Also though not censored (maybe) I cannot get into any of my secure accounts like banks and stores yet. See another post about that.
If I don't plan to come back within the 10 years do I still need a passport to leave for China. Kinda broke right now but maybe I could afford passage on a slow boat to China LOL
