$150 a month!!! That's stupid. You'd have to download thousands of GB of stuff to be worth that much.

i still feel some type of limit should have been put in place long ago. whether this is the correct implementation of it...maybe...maybe not. blame it on the few that download dvd/mp3 collections 24/7. look at long distance phone service or cell phones. you pay for a limited amount of that...per minute or a minute maximum...then the overage fees kick in if you exceed that. i think sprint offers an unlimited plan now (calling, txt, etc) for $99/month.

BUT, what is the speed they are providing with these limited plans? is the $150 unlimited 5, 10, 50Mbps? if it's low, then it's truly a rip off.

Fortunately my Roadrunner is by Brighthouse, they took the area over from TWC. But if Brighthouse went to do this, I would drop them in a heartbeat.

The interesting part is how TWC is going about doing this. They are putting this out in "test" markets where there is little or no competition. This way they roll it out, claim "success" and use it as a justification to rolling it out elsewhere. Does TWC not realize the country is in a recession? Caps in my opinion are completely crap. The actual cost difference between the lowest user and highest user is about $3.

Japan now, has went to rolling out Docsis 3. All they needed to about rolling out increased bandwidth? upgrade the equipment on both ends. There was no need to run expensive fiber optic cabling like Verizon, they used the existing cabling. TWC isn't "rolling" this out. They are only going to offer it to a select few who can afford to pay for it. This company is just taking advantage of its franchise monopoly to squeeze more money out of people. Some TWC customers in other markets have dropped them in a way of protest.

TWC "claims" this is in the best interest of the customer. If that was true, they would upgrade their networks to better support the capacity. Instead they hold onto their profits not actually doing anything.

This here is simply bad business. They will just start to lose customers, word of mouth can hurt greatly. Not to mention all the bad PR they will get when a story of a grandmother on social security, who gets an outrageous bill because her computer got infected with a virus. There is also a conflict of interest which will likely get raised. Their own video services are "exempt" from the cap.
When all else fails, replace the user.
