Treewalk DNS

I stumbled across this program the other night when my ISP's DNS servers were crapping out. Been using it the last couple days, with no problems.

Found this plugin too.

I'd be a little suspicious of why they're offering this. They might be using it for statistical analysis, plus why would you want to install a service to do this?

There's lots of free DNS servers available from multiple ISPs. Just change your DNS in your router or your computer's network settings:

It's just a DNS name-caching only server? I installed it on my fileserver. Plus with the Confetch plugin added, site and server blocking is automatic.

" 1. Block advertising scripts known to originate from other servers
· this can increase the speed of browsing the Internet in most cases
2. (Additionally) blacklist known DNS Poisoners with TreeWalk DNS
3. Stop users on your network from accessing restricted sites that are known to:
· distribute exploit code that may be harmful to your computer(s)
· distribute ads from other servers that may include tracking
· distribute excessive nudity that probably is unsuitable content for minors
· distribute all of the above and/or more unwanted downloads
4. Block overloaded, known Ad Servers from delivering slow-loading content to your desktop
5. Frequently update your Bogon IPs list for TreeWalk's built-in capability
6. Blacklist some Peer-to-Peer networks and sites that are known to distribute malware"
