i'm kinda clueless on how to access my home pc from work using Real VNC. My home pc is behind a wireless router. i understand i have to open or foward a certain port but do not know which one.
i have no problems using Real VNC on my local home network.
forward the ports 5800-5900 to the computer with the server... then you can access it with a VNC client or explorer from outside.
FYI: if you do not have VNC installed you can enter the ip in the address field followed by :5800
(ie 192.168.1.100:5800)
This will enable java and give you access just as if you had VNC installed. Pretty cool

AHHHHHHHHH! Don't forward 5800-5900!!!! The only required ports are 580x and 590x which vary depending on what display you tell the server to use! Default is 5800 and 5900.
I ONLY forward 5900. It's more of a security risk to open 5800 and use JAVA, nor is it required.

ok.. got that working fine. Now how do you get to multiple machines? i tryed to foward a different port to each machine but it only works on the one on 5900.

They way I do it, I log into the main PC with the 5900, then from there access any local PC by then opening VNC on the PC I am in control of. So it is a lil complex

If you have the latest version 4.1.1
In the VNC Server Properties under the Connections tab...you will see the port can now be configured.
In the older versions 3.x it was very difficult...now simple.
Just set each computer to a seperate port and forward the approprate port the the specified computer.
