Can anyone help me ?
I hope so
I have set up my own wireless broadband connection with no problems.
I used an Addons Modem/Router connected by lan cable to my computer and a pcmcia card for my laptop.
I use AOl as my ISP
However with the same modem/router and a usb wireless adapter I can't get the bloody thing to work on Wanadoo on a mates computer !!
The Internet explorrer just keeps saying that I am working offline and tries to connect to the adsl modem dialler.I removed the dialler and it still won't work.
I have updated al the details and wep details on the Addons Program but still no luck
Can anyone help ??
Regards
Leighton

Is his computer seeing the access point?
What happens when you try to connect? It should prompt you for a WEP key.
Have you tried disabling WEP on the access point just to see if he can connect that way?

Wannado is fussy i use wannado heres the settings you need on the router...
VPI=0
VCI= 38
encapsulation= PPoA VC-Mux
and youll need to enter your m8s username and password into the settings too, save it and write to flash and it should work.
. o and make sure drivers for the usb addon are installed properly to, and run the networking wizard on his computer to connect through a gateway/router. youll need to set the preffered DNS and Default gateway settings(in the TCP/Ip) to the network address of the router normally 10.0.0.2. hope that helps.

Thanks for all the replies
I now have the desktop on the wireless network and it is working a treat.
However
Connecting the laptop is proving more tricky
It is a wireless ready laptop and I have configured it as I thought would work.
It is showing that it is connected in the wireless network dialogue but Internet explorer still says no internet connection is available
Must be something simple I reckon.
Can Anyone help ?
Thanks

Are you getting DHCP? Check the status tab of the wireless connection and see if you're getting an IP, gateway and DNS assigned. If so, ping the router and see if it responds (router's IP is the gateway address).

Manual IP: 192.168.1.x (x being any address not being used)
Subnet Mas: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.1
DNS: (Depends on your router - you can check the other computer that is working to see what IP it uses either it's using the gateway (router) address for the DNS (some routers act as a DNS relay) or else it's using the actual DNS servers for your ISP.
