Dis SCSI hd is LOUD! Sounds like a jet engine winding down when u shut it down. lol. Any way to muffle it?

I bought a "Cool Drive" drive cooler for my 7200 RPM Maxtor they claimed it eliminated HDD noise. They were partialy right the fan on the thing is so loud that I can't hear my hard drive at all.

i used to have an old US drives cd rom drive that thing sounded like a harrier jet taking off!

thing takes like 10 seconds to stop spinning (still audible to shut down) lol

I have an ancient 20MB Maxtor SCSI full height HD. The thing takes about 10 seconds to spin up, and sounds like a jet engine. After it spins up, there is a very loud popping inside the drive...sounds like firecrackers. Still runs though.

Dont know of any way to muffle the sound without trapping mucho heat.
