for that you could get a low-end home theater setup from sony and hook into that.


hopefully the 4.1's will go on sale when these babies come out.

I bought the new and improved 4.1's and now they come out with the 5.1's in a couple months. Damn them !!!!! I guess I'll just wait a year or two and then buy some improved 5.1's

I'm not sure on price, but 399 probably sounds about right. Wish they'd keep it around 299 like the 4.1's i've got. I want them though. Sure you could by a low end sony unit, but i highly doubt it will sound as good, plus you;d have to have a real amp to push the speakers. Don't think a low end sony will sound as good as the new Klipsch. They are pretty sweet sounding.

Is it me? or do the pod speakers look almost kinda silver/platinum? It's probably just the lighting reflecting off them ,but if they were platinum color, that would rock!

sethpa, I have been asking my friends if they wanna buy it off of me and they are thinking about it. I doubt they will though, those cheap bastards.

LikeLinus, they are selling the 5.1's for $399. If you think about it it's pretty good price. A more powerful sub at 500watts (2 8inch side woofers), a center speaker, an amp, and new wiring.

And I think the platinum colors you see is just lighting. I've read that they only changed the wiring for those speakers.

They are supposedly going to be availabe on July 15. I've been eye'in them for a couple months now.

well i cant wait..it's a must have! now i just have to purchase a 5.1 card..hehe. The Herc looks nice though. I told my wife when i get the 5.1 i would give her my 4.1, so it's a good deal all around

I didnt realize they were moving up to 8" woofers? I bet they kill the 6.5" they are using in the 4.1, not that it was any slouch anyway!

When I posted this on the PCA front page a while back, I got real excited. Until I learned that you need a reciever to use them, and one that is 5.1 DD compatible if you wanna use the speakers to their full potential. This is the last thing I heard and if it's true, then all you are really buying is a middle of the line HT system.

Yeah, I just visited the Klipsch forums and a few people said that it's just bare wire, no more 1/8th inch connectors anymore. In which case, I was correct...you can't just hook them up simply like you could the 4.1's so you will need a reciever of some sort. So basically, Klipsch took the 4.1's and added an extra speaker and a more powerful sub--that's about it.

I'll be sticking with my Midilands 8200's, until the Klipsch go digital. I'm tired of going to my friends house and hearing hiss up the ass and havinvg it crackle when he turns the volume up and down. It just sounds bad.

So his bass is punchier. Big deal. It's all preference anyway.

What do you mean you need a reciever to use them ? My Acoustic Edge has space for 3 plugs, front, rear, and center/sub. Klipsch tech support didn't say anything about needing to buy something else just to use those speakers.

The new and improved sub by itself makes me wanna get the set, I love bass what can I say. Not to mention the center and new wiring (just wish they used better thicker cables). I was using Cambridge Soundworks 5.1 DTT3500 Digital speakers before I changed it with the Klipsch ProMedia 4.1's and even though they are not as powerful as my Klipsch speakers I missed the center. It sounded a lot better in movies. Screw what people say about phantom centers and shiet, it is just not the same. Sorry about that, hehe

Well, from what I heard at the Klipsch message board, is that the tails ont he wires are bare, they don't have 1/8th inch plugs to fit into the back of a soundcard.

I agree with the center channel. I love it a center speaker, it sounds so much better. My friend with the 4.1's says it sounds worse, but I think that's because he's not used to it. Or maybe he just doesn't think they sound good? Who cares, I like 'em and they are for me so thats all I gotta say about that

I think you might have gotten that wrong. With my 4.1's the speakers connect to the sub and another cable from the sub connects to my soundcard, I believe they would do the same for the 5.1's. Unless they weren't made for PC's of course.

But the bare wire you are talking about is that the 4.1's use a wire with a headphone type plug on it that plugs into the speakers for ease of installation. Now they have made it just bare wire instead of having the stupid headphone type plug. People hated it because if you slightly move the plug while it is plugged into the speakers it messes up and starts crackling or whatever. They changed it back to normal bare wire so that this wouldn't happen.

Hipnotic_Tranz i really don't think Klipsch is changing the cords to standard stereo cord. Also the "pop and crackle" that you heard is from the v2.400 series and that has been fixed and wont happen on the 5.1. I don't have this problem on my 4.1's either.

Either way, you can simply buy 1/8" wiring and make your own cords to use them with your soundcard. But i highly doubt klipsch would do such a thing, that would be totally stupid? They wouldn't be made for computers anymore! They'd just be home audio.

the newer 4.1's crackle when you mess around with the wires. It didn't happen to me though until I actually got curious and played around to see if it crackled. Thankfully the 5.1's use regular style wiring so I can change the cheapo wiring.

Those speakers do look cool, but I think I'll stick with my Sirocco Crossfires for a while yet.
