Say that I bought 2 256MB chips and 1 512 MB chip of the same brand, would
there be any benifits to having two 256s than one 512 MB stick in a motherboard?

Wouldn't they run at the same speed no matter what combo you had?

Thanks

The only real benefit of having two sticks versus one, is if you hav ea friend that needs to borrow a stick for a day or so to test his machine then you could keep your system running. Or if one fries, you still have the other. Thats all I can really think of right now.

if you buy one big stick you have more options when you upgrade. but it really dont think it makes a difference.
