Intel is making some weird naming changes to its processors this year that are certain to confuse people about what they’re buying. As spotted by Laptop Mag, the Core m name is largely going away in favor of Core i, which means it’s going to be much harder to tell exactly how powerful the processor is inside of a new laptop.

Intel's mobile offerings have always confused me. My work laptop is labeled as an I5 yet it really only has two hyper-threaded cores.

I got confused by the new mobile processors as well. I was reading an article that I thought was about the new Kabby Lake desktop line but turned out to be about the mobile. I caught my mistake when I looked at the clock frequencies.

Kabby lake only looks to be around 10% faster than Skylake from the preliminary benchmarks. However we're getting a Z210 chipset. That may be interesting. I'd like to see more PCI lanes devoted to M.2. Many manufactures add M.2 but when you use them, it may or may not eat a couple of SATA ports. In My opinion, since 3X SLI is essentially dead, they should devote that lane to M.2 and still maintain at least 6 SATA ports.
