AHCI/SATA drives showing in Safely Remove Hardware

I just noticed this on my new build with win7. My internal SSD is showing up as a removable drive which I think is correct, but I doubt I'll be ever ejecting it for any reason. Even my standard 1TB hard drive shows up in the list as a removable drive.
After some googling, I found this:

Anyone ever try this? It would have been nice if during the install, you can simply check a box to indicate your flavor.

I'm guessing your mobo supports hot swapping of SATA ports. Is this a problem? You can eject a flash drive from My Computer by right clicking and selecting eject. Or do what most people do and just pull the drive.

Not a problem, but just noticed this with windows 7. On XP, the same mobo did not show that, but I was using regular HD instead of SSD.

Not sure if XP ever support SATA hot-swapping. Can't remember.

I see the same thing. it's only a problem for me if I would accidentally select one due to the OS and apps being on various SSDs in my desktop. I never liked how they show up.

Yeah if you're too fast with the mouse, you could eject your main boot SSD drive.

I have to eject my 32GB USB 3.0 flash drive that I carry on my keychain, because for whatever reason that particular drive will become corrupt if you just pull it - even if nothing is accessing it.
So I always use the eject even though most people don't, and most of the time you don't need to.
Instead of the Windows Safely Remove app, I use an app called USB Safely Remove. It gives you a lot more control of your removable devices, and you can even remount an ejected drive, which I use often to force an automatic sync by Allway Sync when I put new files on the flash drive and want it to backup to the server.
This app lets you hide devices that you never want to eject, like hot swappable SATA drives and multi-card readers (if you eject the multi-card reader on my PC it disables the entire card reader).
It's not free, but it does everything I need so it's worth it for me.

Nice app. I might have to invest and buy a copy. Thanks.

Well I went ahead and bought a copy. At $20, it was a deal IMHO. The program automatically hid drive C, but I had to manually hide drive D.
