This is what I want to do, put a 1Ghz Pentium3 slot1 100mhz FSB CPU(they do exist) in my old mainboard(Abit BX6 rev 2.0). Will my motherboard properly recognize the 1Ghz CPU? The only thing I'm concerned about is the 1Ghz CPU uses a 10x multiplier clock but my motherboard only goes up to 8x. I have installed the latest BIOS updates for my motherboard. Can this be done? I would like some feedback if someone has experience with this kind of combo before I go out and buy a new processor. Thanks in advance!

Go and check the Abit website out and see if there is a bios update for it , i know that the BH6 had the ability to run the PIII chip so i'm guessing yeah for yours.

If your mobo can use Celeron 2's then it should be able to take a p3 1gig at a 10x multiplier. a celeron2 667 is a 10x multiplier(66.6x10).

Intel does not make a Slot 1, 1 Gig CPU in 100 fsb. The Intel slot 1 (1 Gig) CPU only comes in a 133 fsb, 7.5 multiplier.

hmm he may have probs with stability above 100fsb on older bx motherboards Frost, so i would suggest getting any decent PIII 600/700 and just run plain jane fsb

Well color my cheeks red and call me Mary! I didn't know about the 100 fsp 1 gig Slot 1. Must be relatively new. Hmm. Now to find a BX motherboard that will handle it. Seems it would take a bios update. I'm aware of no update for my Abit BE6-II for that CPU yet.

No! Even with the latest bios your top multiplier is 9.
