Looking for a power on button for a Pavilion

Post by Executioner »

I received a HP A735W Pavilion desktop pc. It did not work because the power on button was broken. Desktop looks like this:

Right below the HP logo is the square power on button. I can't find one anywhere. Anyone have any idea where I can find this button? Even ebay did not have any. HP does not have any either, and there is no part number on the button.

You could just go to radio shack and buy a momentary switch and hook it up in place of the power button.. I have one that I made to use when powering on PCs that aren't in cases..

+1. I've rigged up many a switch to do this. Get yourself something like

Drill a hole in the front of the case, wire it in, and voila. You have a new switch. As long as it's a 'normally off' momentary switch, you can use whatever you can find. You can sometimes even find momentary rocker switches or flip switches that can do the job. It ruins stock look, but... meh.

The existing switch works, its just the plastic push button that is broken.

go to a craft store and buy a plexi glass square or a crafting adornment + hot glue.

Well, if it's the plastic, you're gonna have a hard time finding one. Best to do like DaMaN suggested & get crafty.

Thanks for that, but the PC is probably not worth that much. It was made back in 2004/2005 and sold in Walmart stores. I was able to do a full system restore off the hidden partition and create the restore disks. I had to replace the CD/DVD writer because the one on the machine would not open its door. Brought the memory up to 1 gig. Installed MS Security Essentials and all the updates. Not a bad unit for school. I actually don't even know how much I can sell it for. Any ideas?

I'd have to say you're probably closer to the $75-$100 range..

Crap, I probably through out 3 of those cases recently. Lemme look in my garage and see if there's any left.
