Have a comp here that has that security sweet malware on it. I cant boot the comp into safe mode. I hit F8 when booting and all I get is the BBS poup screen to select which HDD to boot from. I checked the settings in the bios but cant find anything to change that. Its a Asus mobo running win 7 64 bit.
How do i get it to boot in safe mode?
Thanks

Do you ever get to the Windows logo if you just let it boot normally? It sounds like you might be hitting the F8 key too soon. Some mobos use F8 as the BIOS boot menu key. You need to get past that point and press F8 once the OS starts loading.
Worst case, one way to trick the OS into safe mode is to let it start booting normally then turn off the power while the Windows logo is up. The safe mode prompt will come up by itself the next time.

The Bios says "del" for bios and F8 for BBS pop up screen. I tried what you mentioned, FP but all I get is the recovery/repair screen.

Wait till after those messages are gone & then push the F8 key.

Will the Windows logo come up at all if you just let it boot? If so, just turn the power off once the logo appears. By default the next time you boot Windows will give you an option to enter Safe Mode because it failed to boot the previous time.

That did the trick, FP. I was powering it off after windows had loaded.
I'll bet within 24 hours the guy will bring it back to me with the problem. Next time he gets to learn how to fix it.
Thanks for the help guys!
