I have a directory of MP3s that I would like to use as walk in music at a party. Problem is they are all recorded at different levels. Is there a way to normalize (is that the term) the directory where they are all the same level?
I will try audiograbber....but didnt know if it would rip MP3s to MP3 and normalize at the same time.
Any suggestions.

I haven't personally used this but MP3gain is supposed to be a good program and supports batch processing:

There is a compressor / expander plug in for winamp that does a good job with out messing with the MP3 files.

I wish there was a program that did the same for bass. In shuffle mode where every tune has different bass, adjusting that in the car with subs can be a pain.

Should just tune it with pink noise and be done.

What exactly is "pink noise" as far as being a program that tweaks MP3s?
Here's what google shows (not exactly helpful IMO):

Its a sound you use to EQ out a system. you play pink noise through the system and use a RTA to measure the systems output. You then look at the "curve" and use an EQ to set it to your taste (normally flat). Then you have a "tuned" system.

Sounds like major surgery to me.

no not really. using the RTA you can see what frequencies in your system are loud and soft and then you can "tune" them using a EQ or whatever you have in the system to try and flatten the response out. You should not be adjusting the gain on your sub or anything for that matter.

Still, what I have is all music on 3 MP3 players via iTunes which controls/equalizes volume, 3 cars all with subs. "Equalizers" today use controls in the head units, not externally like the 70s/80s. What I'd like to see is a nice SW program that does for bass what a volume equalizer program does for volume control without effecting anything else. Maybe some day?
