pretty sweet...i finally got around to repairing a Q6600 based system i have had laying here FOREVER. it died in the line of duty at the office and was going to be tossed, so i set it on the side for a raining day. this will probably become my download/burning system and i can retire the 6 year old one i've been using for that.

SERIOUSLY. That's still a mainstream CPU. My main/gaming rig is a Q6600.

it had a raid controller (integrated) problem, as well as video card failure. so, i am just bypassing the raid portion and swapped out video cards with something i had laying here. yeah, it's pretty decent, but out of warranty, so the office wouldn't pay to have it repaired (just not worth it due to the workflow there). i won't complain. :D

Yeah, I was just complaining about my E5200 that is my gaming processor earlier & you've got a throwaway that's double the computing power? At my work, when we throw a system away, it's a Celeron 533 with 64mb of RAM.

Well, that is kind of a dated CPU in terms, but it is still a 64-bit quad core and in no way seen as trash. What people throw away these days...

You don't need Raid for that thing to be handling just computational tasks. Their duh is your gain I suppose.
