Not sure if I had already spread the word here about this little Gizmo but doing it again wouldn't hurt anyways :lol All said and done I want one and would have sooo many uses for it, its almost scary.
Heres the product page

The falsh will get better, as they are awaiting Adobe to support Android with Flash 10 or something of the sort. Plus there will be a direct Firmware upgrade for Android from Google as well.

I've been a big fan of Archos for years. Their stuff is always reasonably priced for what you get & they are always innovating or at least keeping up with the big guns. Shame I can't afford this (or much of anything for that matter).

Well if I find the chips lying around I hopefully will have one of these by year's end. School would be MUCH less boring at times for sure, although I don't generally think school is boring to being with.

Might be a cool toy. It's got similar features to the Iphone or Touch but larger and a whopping 250gb HDD for $300. I'm curious as to how good its GPS is for car use being that I'm currently not happy with my 3 yr old, costly TomTom Go 910 which has some annoying habits and just failed (no nothing) on my last trip just last weekend. To make that Archos 5 an auto. GPS, the extras cost $130.

Yeah, I read about this the other day and I'm interested. I need to read some reviews. I have been toying with getting an iTouch just to have a small internet appliance that I can use in bed. I would prefer something with a larger screen like the Archos. I would also like to know if it supports flash which the itouch does not as I understand.

It supports Flash Lite atm... but like I said they are going to release the firmware upgrade to the Android OS (from Google) for the Archos here within a couple of months. After this happens full flash support will be in the palm of your hands. Also The GPS has various modes even with the "3d-View" which has an overview field with actual photos of the buildings/surroundings you are passing, yet the GPS is another cost you have to add to get it working with all the specials.

I'd love to hear a mini review. What document formats does it handle? Word, PDF, text? Does the browser support flash?
I am debating getting something like this as a couch web browser and ebook reader. The wife likes my Kindle but she thinks she'd prefer to read from a lighted screen (she likes reading from my Palm PDA). It would also be nice to have something small for quick web browsing - like looking up movie trivia while watching TV. I am constantly pausing the DVR and grabbing a laptop to lookup something when the wife and I start debating something during a show.
I'm leaning towards an iTouch, ESPECIALLY if I can install the Kindle app on it and sync it with my Kindle account like you can with the iPhone. I have to research to see if it's supported on the iTouch. Trouble is I hate using iTunes.

What's wrong with iTunes? I have 3 Touches and converted all of my many CDs to iTunes on 3 PCs. Works great and everywhere I go, cars, Boomboxes, anywhere. You can DL music from Amazon too and it goes right into iTunes. The app pandora is noteworthy, use that more now than XM because you can control it, avoid music that you don't want to hear.
If you look at reviews of each, you'll see that the iTunes apps are better and there's lots of them. I have Kindle on it but havent really used it yet. My wife might try Kindle on it soon.
If you get a Touch, get the largest capacity one which I think is now 64gb.

I've used iTunes, Evil. Don't like it. I manage my wife's Nano for her and I gave up on iTunes a year ago in frustration. I just use Sharepod to manage her music files now.
That's why I got a Zune. It may not be as sexy a player as an iPod but the Zune Desktop is much more pleasurable to use - particularly for managing podcasts.

Hopefully I have time to write one up for you tomorrow FlyingPenguin. Really, even after all the research I did into it before buying one, I still am impressed by things I didn't know the device would do or for that matter the way it does them.
