I just picked up my sister in-laws HP desk top today .its having problems starting up .
i open up the case and I'm sure she fried the power supply .there is enough dust in the case that I'm sure. if i were to put it on a scale i find it weighs twice what it did coming right from the factory new. tomorrow i try and take some pictures of the inside of this unit .
i took off the CPU fan shroud and she clean it . it was 80 -90 pecent clogged solid with dust bunnys and im going to use my air compresser to blow the rest out of the case,CPU heat sink ,and fans .not something i do normally but i go though a 1/2 case of compressed air other wise .also the power supply seems to be total clogged just on what i seen when the case lid was removed this afternoon , :s odamn

make sure you stick something in the fans so they dont spin.

Smokers? Those are usually the worst. The tar sticks to the fans & then they just keep collecting dust. I've had some that were clogged solid within a year.

Yeah. Cleaning a smoker's PC is no fun. I won't do it on site. I take it out to my garage and blow it out as best as possible with my compressor, and then I use rubbing alcohol to clean the gunk off the individual fan blades with a q-tip. Nasty work.

I can relate to this. I'm a smoker and have to clean mine out every 2 to 3 months. Hope I can quit smoking before my puter starts smoking............lol

Thats garbage in my Opinion... "Oh Hai my name is Apple and my S*** does not stink!!" Smoking is bad for your health, but so is laying $3,000 down for one of Apple's computers.

I definitely believe that if they are going to do this, then they need to let the customers know what they're getting into up front.
