Hey, just got my Radeon after ditching my dying TNT. Everything works fine, except... I run my desktop at 1024x768 @ 32 bit... However I'm running this card with a 366@550 celeron and can't run my games at the same rez. So I try to keep quake3 and UT running at 800x600 @ 32 bit to keep a steady frame rate. However, since my desktop rez and the games are different, everytime I run the game the monitor resizes itself and I have to reconfigure it. It's getting very annoying. But if I run the games at 1024x768 everything is just great. I did this with my TNT, so what's the deal? Starcraft does teh same thing. I'm getting newer drivers right now.... you guys have any ideas?
Thanks

If u have an older monitor (one with dials or whatever) then this will happen when the refresh rate is changed

I have a Viewsonic GT775... It's an aperature grill 17" monitor, very nice. It have button controls on the front, no dial. I've set the refresh rate for 85 hz... should I set it for optimal? Changing the refresh rates does alter the display.... very weird. I'll let you know how these drivers work out... I'm using the ones from the installation disk, so that's what it could be.

I have the same problem with my Hitachi 751, drives me crazy, pulled the Radeon back out and put the Matrox back in. This was using the Special Purpose drivers too. If I can't solve this I'm not gonna use it. Reconfiguring the monitor res every time you change apps is totally nuts!
I hope someone can shed some light on this.
thanks,

you might want to take a look at rage3d and see if anyone there has playd with that issue - they usually have a lot of stuff - I run my radeon desktop and games @ 1024@32 on my p3600@800 on a bx board with a 17" hp m70 monitor - never experienced that problem

problem is I run my desktop at 1152 x 864, and games and stuff run quite a bit less usually. Is that probably the reason it's all out of whack every time?

Well I'm not for sure what the fix was but now it's working good. I'm using the 3056 build drivers and it's working good now. I think if you try messing around with the vertical, horizontal, and composite synchronizations found under the ATI advanced tab that it might help. Hope this helps ya... LMK if anything helps

Cool, at least you fixed it. I thought the Radeon could've handled 1024 in games though, 1600x1200 32 bit is pretty good for me in UT. =)

Nah, I'm sure the card can easily pull steady frame rate at 1024x768x32bit... but I'm using a 550 celeron with it

I"m sure my future 1.1 gig TBird will help out
