I finally ordered my the parts for my new build. They should be here today or tomorrow as they coming from the Memphis Newegg warehouse. Here they are

<a href=http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 15202>Core I7 920</a>

<a href=http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 31365>Asus P6T Deluxe V2</a>

<a href=http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 0145236>12 gigs Corsair XMS</a>

<a href=http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 36319>2-WD Black 640gb for RAID 0</a>

<a href=http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 2136284>2- WD Black 1 TB for storage</a>

<a href=http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 007>Noctua CPU cooler</a>

Plus the XFX 260 Core edition, the Thermaltake 700w PSU and Antec 900 case that Ive already bought. Man I cant wait to get this rig put together. I figure it should scream!! I will probably tackle it this weekend since I have my kids this week and I dont want to take time away from them to tinker with this. I will post a complete build log with tons of pics.

Looks like a good build. More than I can afford.

No sir. 12 gigs it is. Im in school so I do alot of stuff running multiple VM's so the ram will help with that. Plus this is first new build in like 4 years so I decided to go big :)

I'm hoping you are running a 64-bit OS :) Can't blame you in the Western Digitals. Seagate has been somewhat of a letdown as of late, with them reducing warranty, they seem to show they have no confidence in their products either.

I thought I was doing good with 8gigs. Actually, even with 4gigs in Vista I hadn't ever felt the need for an upgrade. But ram's so cheap, why chance it.

great system. as far as ultimate benchmark performance, the reviews i've seen comparing various RAM configs showed anything over 4GB = slower. the system has to manage the memory space, which takes up resources, etc. of course, this was just for gaming. things like VMs eat it up...who cares about the 1% or less loss of performance.

congrats!

1% loss of performance today would have been more than 100% 15 years ago :p
