cheap laptops

Post by two slow »

Newegg sent me a flyer with a 14" gateway laptop in it. This got me thinking. This would be a good gift for my youngest daughters B-day in a few months.
What do you think of this?

I haven't looked at dell for a long time but I will soon to see if the have something comparable. I would like to get some kind of accident warranty with it too.

When all else fails, replace the user.

Guessing this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6834101180

Only laptop I can find on there that fits what you mentioned :p

Not so bad of a price. For many that is more of a laptop than they would ever need. As long as your daughter isn't some kind of hardcore gamer that is. :)

Cheap is more than what most people I know need. Especially if they spend all day on Facebook.

Don't be fooled by "Dual Processor". That's a Pentium processor not a Core 2 Duo. 6 year old technology. You get what you pay for.

Take a look at this for $80 more: http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/ ... reat_deals

Bigger screen, Core 2 Duo processor and 3Gb of RAM which is the real world minimum for Vista.

Everything is flash based now and requires more CPU than you may think. I see lots of Pentium 4 systems come across my bench that lag pretty bad on flash-intensive web sites.

That is the one, I missed the sale price though. It was 399 with free shipping.
