I am looking at a Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 on Dell.com (http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/prod ... c0s558)for 188.00 shipped as a replacement for my E6700 C2D and am wondering since it is Socket 775 it should work in my ASUS P5B Deluxe.

Just wanted to ask you all, am I correct in this thinking? Also the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 is listed at a 1333 MHz bus speed and my mobo is listed as 800/1033. That is the piece that concerns me the most. Should I not go down this road and consider a new mobo in my equation in getting a new processor of this type??

According to the Asus site you can run the either version of the Q9400 as long as you have the updated BIOS to support it. If I were you I wouldn't be concerned at this point with the motherboard, since it does support the processor, if you want to upgrade the CPU at this time.

Good price. That's cheaper than NewEgg.

Thanks, do you all think its worth it? I think I'd have to reinstal Vista again to recognize the Quad vs. the Dual Core. I am unsure If I want to go through all that crap at this time.....thoughts?

Nope. Just pop the quad core in. No need to re-install the OS.

I just checked prices and that's even cheaper than an un-boxed OEM Q6600, so really nice deal.
