i order two sticks of pc2-6400 2 gig from them for this computer. they have arrived and were installed 3 days ago about .
when they arrived they felt way lighter then the pc2-3500 ram i used in the old mb.
well one of the sticks is dead and the second stick seems to be a bit flakey.
has the quality of there ram gone down and its just a name thats im buying now. the sticks were made in china.

A lot of people swear by Crucial, but I rarely buy from them.. But their app to determine what kind of memory and how much will fit your PC is nifty haha.. I would say my top three memory companies are Kingston, Corsair and Geil.

Yeah, I was about to mention my bad experiences recently with Crucial. Also, I've had problems with Corsair lately too. GeIL's got some good stuff as well as A Data (where the heck did they come from). OCZ is hit & miss like everything they make.

Never had a problem. I just ordered 12 sticks for a business client and installed them today with no issues.
Then again, with the margin on RAM prices so thin, and everyone laying employees of, I suppose quality is down overall everywhere.
Reno. Did you order the specific RAM for your mobo, and not just generic RAM? If you order the generic stuff then you can have timing issues.
Also be aware that many things can cause memory to fail a memory test. A bad or overheating Northbridge for example, or a defective PCI card.

i order it for the board right off there site . one stick is running the unit .the bad stick send off warning beeps as i fire up the computer if installed. glad i only order 2 sticks and not 4 like i thought about for a moment. that would of even more fun trying to figure out what stick was bad ! and running xp there was no need anyway becouse of max readablity.
i call them monday for a rma.

You did swap the two sticks to make sure it wouldn't work with the other one by itself, right? Because it could also be a dual memory channel stability issue (in which case it would work fine with either stick by itself, but not with both sticks).

I have had a couple of bad sticks of Crucial recently. No matter the voltage or the timings I couldn't get them to work. I will say that was the first time they've done me wrong however.

I think like many products cost cutting is starting to show up in many products . this is just one more item like i said .the circuit board on this ram seem thinner and lighter then past chips i have seen or used. even in budget brand no name ram. and im thinking this is just the start of things to come out to market.

Actually, most of the ram lately is on the slim side as well as using BGA chips which make things even slimmer & lighter. I suspect that's the real reason most manufacturers are using ramsinks lately is to make it seem more substantial.
