Stumbled upon this, anyone used anything like this. It might be better than a media pc for me.

Looks like it's built around the same drive used in Western Digital MyBooks. I've yet to see one of those last more than a year, although you could always replace the drive I suppose if it fails.

Decent review here though: http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=4745

Don't want to sound like a retard, but how does this device work with your TV?

I just got mine. I cashed in a Bestbuy gift card.

I hooked it up to my 47" LCD using HDMI cable. It works great. The picture quality is not HD, but pretty good since the average movie download is only about 700MB.

I hooked up a SATA laptop hd in an external case to it. I also played videos from my jump drive.

This is much better than downloading and then making a DVD.

It is alot more money, and you have to stream your video over your network.
I have a horse trailer with living quarters. The WD unit will travel better , for me.

There's is also another device that look good, popcorn hour.It too, was more money. So far, the WD has played every kind of file I throw at it.

OK,l been using this for a couple of weeks. I am very impressed. Very simple to use and portable. Sure beats burning downloaded video to a DVD.
