i bought a lite-on LVC-9016G dvd+vhs combo recorder just over a year ago with a exstended 1 year warrany plan from computer geeks. now the unit wont exstract a cd and i can only power it up by using the remote. so double wamo on problems. also when i go to lite-on site this unit is discon. and my luck computer geeks site is down. so monday i need to call them for a repair or replacement or refund.
what do you think going to happen now ?
i know computer geeks ran out of the units like a year ago. a friend tryed to buy one from them. also its over the one year factory warranty. so the exstended warranty will kick in now to cover the unit.
the wife has used the unit a bunch to copy old video movies from the movie camera . looks like i need to get a replacement eather way it go's .i do feel as do we got are moneys worth out of this unit. :)

#1): Extended warranties at Best Buy or Circuit City are a waste of money. Assuming they cover it they should give you a different unit that they currently sell that's comparable. I just bought this one from Best Buy to replace an older one that died and can recommend it: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp ... 2648740010
The DVD drive sounds a little clunky but it works fine, it's got good reviews, and it plays Divx videos which is a must for me.

#2): If you want the exact same unit so as not to confuse your wife with learning new controls, Amazon.com is your friend. $150 new: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/de ... R&v=glance

I often find discontinued models on the Amazon Marketplace.
