I have a friend who installed Flex 2580n4a pci card to use a Pinnacle PCTV HD stick. The tuner stick works great but none of his mobo usb slots work. I dont have a clue to whats wrong. Any ideas whats wrong?
Thanks!

Try moving it to another PCI slot.
Is this card a add-on PCI USB card? If so, I've never heard of it. I would recommend a Belkin. They work flawlessly.

Best info I can find is that it is some off-brand card, perhaps with a NEC chipset. Should check Device Manager to see if the other USB controller is still listed.
He has to have more than one PCI slot unless that thing a Shuttle, even if he has to start moving cards around. Remember FP said another slot, didn't have to just be an unoccupied one.

Sorry, should have mentioned that. This used to be more of a problem than it is now. Frnakly it's a crappy card if it's causing a conflict. Mobos made in the last 6 years or so should never have a PCI IRQ conflict. But the old solution was to just move the cards around.
I would first pull ALL the PCI cards and try the USB card in each slot until you find one that works. Then install the other cards ONE AT A TIME. If it conflicts, then move the last card. Hopefully you'll find a combination that works.
Also it would help to free up some IRQs. Disable anything onboard that you don't need like serial and parallel ports.
In the end you may just need a better USB card.
