gateway laptop assm. directions

im looking for directions to replace the keyboard on a gateway 3040gz laptop.
i have been looking online and just not been able to locate any. im just scared i take out the wrong screws and have a bigger mess on my hands then i need .and i be in florida with no internet when i try to fix this unit .

Ebay is about all you have to work with when it comes to this stuff.
Searching ebay comes up with a few of them.

it might be a different model, but close enough to show you how. Keyboards are not usually too bad.
Take pictures as you disassemble, and tape the screws to a sheet of paper. Write the location of the screws on the sheet of paper. That's how I do it. Others might have better ideas.

thanks guy i did order a keyboard last night and its already was shipped to florida today. but im just was wondering about the screws and clips . like i said i be screwed when i get there as no internet to help me though most likely ! thank you phil for the link as i just printed it out .was a nice time to run out of ink and have to replace the cartages do.

Wow, I feel like I completely misread your entire post
Replacing a keyboard has always been the easiest thing about laptops, since it is generally so easily accessible. Good luck with it all

I've never worked on a Gateway laptop oddly. However, many laptops just require the popping off of the panel next to the LCD & it will give access to screws holding the keyboard in. Sometimes that panel will be screwed in from below, so I'd recommend that you remove any screws directly underneath it just in case. They usually come off with just the pull of your fingers.
I did a pretty thorough search & it appears that there is minimal support for this laptop for service.
