Im not so sure I like the idea of hdd this big. I mean yeah its great to have this kind of storage capacity in a single hdd since it helps keep voltage requirments down (psu) but if one of these drives flops then talk about loosing some data. I could entertain a few of these in an array with mirroring to pacify this but a single hdd with 1.5tb of data crapping out would almost seem catastrophic. Just my opinion though.

sure, losing that much data would be bad...depending on what it is. these large drives make perfect consolidated backup locations though.

The price is pretty damn good. When the 750GB and 1TB came out, its price was nothing close to that.

Glad I didn't pull the trigger yet on a new file server... think ill wait a few more weeks and see what prices do...

same drive $50 less in two months...good times. :)

i was reading last night about the roadmap for drive density and they are planning on hitting 1Tb/in2 soon...that's when we get the 2.5TB and 5.0TB drives...
