I feel good knowng that I can at least compete with Alienware when building. That's the only kind of computer I build (gaming) anymore. Just built a monster SLI job for $1200.

I certainly won't say that mine is the end-all-be-all, but it will certainly play everything at max (well, Crysis on pretty darn high) & the slower processor will very much be overcome by the superior 8800GTs.
Q6600 (O/C'ed to 3ghz reliably) $220
MSI P7N $180
A-DATA (2 x 2GB) DDR2 800 $80
2 - 512mb 8800GT's (whatever's currently on sale) $340
500GB Drive (WD's & Seagates, pick your flavor) $70
DVD Recorder $25
Powersupply (I'm impressed by this: SILVERSTONE ST85ZF 850W) $170
Case $60
Total $1145
And you still have a bit left over for a monitor (or just to cover shipping).
Prices can actually be much lower (couple hundred) if taking rebates & special combo pricing into consideration.
