i have a 80 gig wd800 & seagate barracuda 7200.7 200gig and both of them the circuit boards smell really ripe .and the seagate when you put power to it you see a smoke rise

Heh, sounds like a bad PSU or perhaps lightning took hold of them. Wouldn't be the first time that has happened.
