Since I moved my computers upstairs and put the chairs on plastic chair mats, I'm getting shocks everytime I move the chair and touch the keyboard tray. Any idea how to prevent this? Wearing my grounding strap stops it but I'd prefer to ground the mat. I tried hooking up the grounding strap from the mat to the desk but that didn't help.

When I want to ground something like this, I normally would run the wire to the 2 prong electrical receptacle, using the single screw that holds the plastic cover over the receptacle. That screw should be touching the metal case of the receptacle that goes to earth ground.

Cover your floor with about 3" of water. Works real well.
