EPP Memory

I had some major issues with my new rig when first built. I wasn't having much success installing windows XP at all, constant restarts, bsod, and lockups (all of this while installing windows). The memory I bought wasnt in the compatability list for them mobo so figured I was just screwed and would have to return it for some that was. I tried running one dimm at a time to possibly see if it was bad memory. Ended up running both sticks, in dimm 2 and 4 and finnaly was able to install windows and his has been running ok since then. Well tonight I finnaly did my homework on the bios options and found out that the "EPP" setting in the bios was set to disabled. EPP from what I have gathered from Google, is for "SLI capable" memory. Well just so happens the memory I have is sli capable. So I switched it on "EPPOC0%" and can now run my mem in dimm 1 and 3 like normal. Comp seems much smoother and boot times are considerably lower. Dont know if anyone else has run into this but thought it might interest someone here. Also my mem timings when set to auto were way off (5-5-5-18 2T) from advertised 4-4-4-12 1T. Now that I enabled the EEP they are correct in the auto detect settings.

Interesting concept, sounds more like a configuration issue with the motherboard rather than a general problem. For reference, what motherboard did this happen on?
