I checked and the green lights on back of my compter where internet cable plugs in, they are not working. Since i built this computer i dissassembled to check mb for a bad spot, didnt find one. I put it back together, thecomputer comes on, but no signal to monitor or key board. I checked connections many times. Its a p-4 2.8. Abit IS7 MB, 1 gig Corsair ram, Radeon 9800 PRO and Maxtor 120 hd. any ideas? tks

I hate to say it, but it sounds like your mb is fried. I assume you are using a surge protector, but keep in mind than anything connnected to your computer must go through a surge protector also. If your dsl modem is pluged into the wal, or even if it is plugged straight into the house line, that can provide a path for voltage surges.

If you have a spare power supply around, you could try that, it could have been taken out instead of the mb...

I once lost a computer to lightning... then it turned out that only the modem was fried, and am on that computer now.

Hope this helps

Lightning is quite hazardous, I got a lightning strike that took out my modem, router, network card, motherboard, power supply and one hard drive. All devices were hooked to a surge protector, including the modem's cable line. One thing you need to know is that a surge protector isn't going to stop lightning, it will go through popping that surge protector along with other things.
