USB Chargers: Safe?

I recently went to my local Gamestop, and found a nifty little USB charger for my GBA SP. I picked it up, naturally, since it doubled as a car adapter, but I was wondering: Are these things really safe? I know that, in theory, it seems logical enough, since the USB port on a normal computer gives off 5V, give or take a quarter of a volt. But in any event, is there the danger that damage could be done to my SP, or my motherboard? Right now, I'm powering it off of the Front USB port on my Antec case, and it seems to be working, but I just wanted to make sure

I have one that charges my cell phone from my lappie, and my son uses a usb cable to charge his creative zen since the dog ate the plug in cord - should be ok
