sad day at my house....wanted to check something out in my main electrical panel, had t remove the frontpanel and by doing so I somehow caught with the edge of the cover my main braker, it tripped and the whole house went dark.
Well my Kids computer started up normaly again to the log in screen (WIN 2K) but when my wife hit CTRL ALT DEL to log in the whole thing just shut down as if the power was turned off. Now when I try to start it just starts to beep, it doesnt post or anything. If I unplug the Powercord and plug it back in the CPU fan and VC fan come on for a split second, but after that nothing. The beeps it is giving are 3 melodious like a phone beeps followed by 2 short beeps.
HP Vectra VL420 DT pentium 4 1.6, dont know what kind of BIOS. ( did not have a power bar on this PC, big mistake I know but it was only supposed to be temporary there and didnt have a bar available when I set it up)

My other computer my main rig, still works but has a problem with the DVD-ROM and DVD r/RW drive. They work when i start it up but then out of nothing they are gone, dont show up in My Computer anymore neither in device manager. Happend when I tried backing up a DVD movie.
ASUS P4S800 MB P4 2.4 Prescott, 1Gig Ram, ATI X700Pro

well kids PC is running again, it was the PSU. Luckely I still had one kicking around, some cheap thing, it didnt really have the same size or lay out but since this is a desktop model i just layed it inside the case and attached it with one screw. We'll see how long it will last.
