Power supply question

I picked up a Silverstone psu from fry's around 2 weeks ago and now the fan is rattling due to a cracked blade. I emailed silverstone and they informed me that I need to either return it to fry's or send it to them for a replacement. Fry's is more than an hour away and it would cost more in shipping to send it in than to replace the fan myself. I dont have the orignal reciept from fry's so Im thinking it will be a major pain to get them to replace it. I payed with a credit card so I could prove I bought it with the statement Im assuming. My question is about the amperage rating. If the oem fan had .44amp and I replace it with a .08amp fan (vantec stealth), will this cause problems and shorten the life of the psu? I didnt figure it would but would rather get another oppinion.

Won't make any difference. Put any fan the same size in there. You can cut the old wires and splice the new fan's wires (ideally with solder and heatshrink tubing although small wire nuts will also work).

any manufacturer warranty you have on it will probably be voided if you open the psu, but you probably already considered that.

i would keep an eye on the new fan and would not recommend running it unattended for a while.

go straight to bios and watch your voltages and temps from there for while.

Thanx, got the vantec on the way. As for solder and heat shrink, I wont use anything else, even when installing a car stereo. I make all my guys at work do the same. The trucks we work on see frequent fording. pissez me off to see some K-mart a$$ butt connector with tape wrapped around it!
